The Fiat group problem.
Like many other Fiat brands(Alfa, Lancia, Fiat) it has no cars to sell.
The new 200 will be a good car, maybe, but it replaces the current 200, leaving Chrysler with only 3 models, in their showroom.

They'll add the Lancia Ypsilon and Delta as the Chrysler 50 and 100. There, problem solved.

Regardless of if the 200 is a good car, I still refuse to buy it because Chrysler has turned me off to their brand in previous years with quality issues

They've talked about that since the Fiat takeover, but there are no signs of them, intending to do that.

Delta is so-so, the novelty and outright beauty will probably sell it, but the Ypsilon isn't what it used to be, sadly.....

Maybe it's good for a company like Chrysler to take a step back and work on a select few models to make them the best they can be rather than pump out model after model each one crappier than the last.

I cringe every time I think of how the Ypsilon changed Lancia's reputation.

People keep saying that Dodge's future is uncertain; I pose that it is Chrysler's that is, in fact, uncertain. A number of vehicles produced under the Dodge marque garner a good deal of praise and see positive sales numbers:
Challenger
Charger
Durango
Grand Caravan
They have a really good thing going with the Dart; the Journey, like the Avenger, is a leftover from bankruptcy with a refresh/redesign/trashcan coming in the near future. Chrysler only sees decent sales numbers in the 200 because of fleet sales, and the Town & Country is overshadowed by the less expensive, yet mostly the same, Grand Caravan. This leaves the 300 - yes, built on the same platform as the Charger, but different enough in design and comfort to not be readily cross-shopped with it's Dodge rival. So Chrysler really has one model to sell right now.
I hope the new 200 will help, but really I feel this would make a better Avenger replacement. Chrysler has lost its identity, save the 300. I don't see how this new 200 is change that.

They could badge engineer the Punto and Bravo to go up against the Ford Focus in the U.S. But ye', they need to pull their finger out and start putting some car designs to paper.

Am I the only one who is seeing a lot of Audi in the lines of the 200, especially around the rear?

I see a lot of everything in that car. Had it come with a Chinese badge I would've believed it as well.

Agreed, including the Italian brands. They used to have a wide lineup, nowadays there's very little left. Other than the obvious pricey coupes/convertibles/Maseratis the Fiat Panda and 500 are fine, the rest of the Italian lineup is way too old or stinks. Fiat/(Chrysler) needs to throw a lot of money into R&D and new models. Just look at the Fiat and Alfa Romeo lineup a mere decade ago, and compare that to today. It's sad.

Chrysler is the brand, that gives the name of the company, it won't die.

I understand that, but, apart from the 300, they have no models of distinction. I'm not thinking that Chrysler as the brand will go away, moreso that they need to sit back and look at their future as a marque

They've spent two billion dollars on the 200, surely they hope to sell a lot of them. I guess they will invest as much as they can, but I'm afraid of excessive bureaucracy, in the newly formed Fiat-Chrysler entity.

I'll help you hope this will do well. I want new and better Alfa Romeos, and Fiat needs cash cows to get there and this, theoretically, could do well in the US and China. However, from a European market point of view this 200 is probably utterly unsellable so I hope you'll excuse my mild skepticism.

The Punto and Bravo are ancient. Fiat desperately needs to get its act together in Europe.

They are ancient, but in a new market like the U.S. they might have a few more miles in them. Were both agreed then that they get their fingers out.

We have a Chrysler Concorde 2011. We took it through a car wash tonight and the cover over the wiper machines came off in the wash. The operator it picked it, looked at it tried to see if he could put it back, then realized the plastic clips where it clipped in were broken off. He said Auto Zone around the corner would probably have the replacement clips. We went there and they didn't know what to do so they put some strips of two sided sticky tape on it an pressed it in. It doesn't look very secure to us. Thank you , Donald Benoit Utica ,N.Y.
What suggestions do you have? dbenoit237@yahoo.com

Go to a Mopar parts counter at any Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram dealership with your VIN and the piece in hand.

Our lack of product drives me crazy. All we have on the lot at Rams, ProMasters, Durangos, Caravans, Journeys, Avengers, Chargers, Challenger, and Dart. It gets boring dealing with only a handful of models.
The Avenger and Journey are jokes and need to be replaced already.
The Dart hasn't sold well at all.
The Charger, Durango, and Caravan are great but people don't buy them.
The Challenger is an outdated also ran.
If it weren't for the Ram, my dealership would have went under a long time ago.

So? If you make good quality vehicles that will sell well, why try to dilute the brand?
All Chrysler needs is 4 vehicles.
100 compact (think Buick Verano/Encore competitor)
200 mid size
300 full size
Town and Country (could be 400) cuv/minivan
Keep Chrysler upscale and leave the mainstream rental crap dilute Dodge. They will always have their sport appeal so it's not like it could really hurt them. Let Jeep do what they do. Let Ram do what it does. Let Fiat be the niche Mini fighter.

It isn't easy to jump from crap to top, even the Koreans had a transition period. You need to have good cars, and better cars need to come, with each new generation. Full integration of Fiat and Chrysler is still a couple of years away. The paradox of Fiat is that it needs cash to develop better new cars, but for that it needs cash cows, like full Alfa lineup in America, growing Maserati offerings and more.
They have new models in large segments, like the Cherokee and this new 200, those should bring some money, but right now, at Fiat - Chrysler, the mozzarella lair, is pretty thin.

Because they need more offerings in the range to entice people into their dealerships. The majority of car manufacturers have an extensive range to appeal to different tastes.

They've had QC issues for much longer than 2 decades. The increase in quality by literally every other car company makes it seem like only 20 years.
I'd love a 300. My need to have a working vehicle has overridden this desire.
